Chummie & Theos Medical Systems – Analysis and Deceit in Advertising.

Thanks to some information we obtained recently from the internet, we have to re-evaluate our estimates on Theos Medical Systems’ Chummie bedwetting alarm and their degree of deceit.

Quick Summary:

In our opinion there is a 95% probability that Chummie’s North American sales are between 500 and 1,500 units per year. We would associate a 99% probability that their current annual sales in North America are between 400 and 2,500 units. Our expectation would be about 1,200 units per year.

The key is Chummie’s success, or the lack of it, on eBay. eBay is without question the second largest and most important site for selling products such as Chummie, after Amazon. Chummie has been sold on eBay since July 30, 2011, which is about when they entered the U.S. and North American market. Since that time, eBay reports that 107 units of Chummie have sold as of October 4, 2013.
We obviously have to make some estimates of eBay’s share of the market relative to Amazon, and tertiary sites such as Rakuten, Sears, Wayfair, etc. which are also used by Chummie to offer their wares to the public.

Amazon:

We would estimate that Chummie’s sales on Amazon could be as much as 5 times greater than on eBay. The primary reason for giving Amazon this large edge over eBay is that Chummie has been stuffing positive reviews on Amazon, something that they cannot do successfully on eBay. We note that many reviews on Amazon come from sources with very limited exposure to Amazon, and there are almost no Amazon “REAL NAME” reviewers, particularly for positive reviews. We also believe that a very substantial number of reviews probably originate directly with Chummie (its principals, relatives, employees, etc.) with several “Amazon Verified Purchase” being Chummie or its friends purchasing the product from Amazon, and Chummie taking the hit for Amazon’s fee with the expectation that these “Verified Purchase” reviews would provide more credibility. That is what one would expect, but with the likely abuse of this by Chummie, we cannot place much credibility on these reviews.
We also pay attention to when, and under what circumstances, reviews occur on the Chummie page on Amazon, and the content of such reviews. We notice that whenever Chummie receives a negative review, a rash of positive reviews promptly appear. Many completely toe Chummie’s line, even when it is irrational or just plain stupid in our minds for a person to be behaving or claiming what is often read. Many reviews are “testimonials” to buy more items from Chummie, although this defeats Chummie’s avowed purpose of reducing the cost to the customer. Also, to get around obvious defects in Chummie, such as the sensor not staying on the briefs, many customers come up with alternatives including using duct tape and putting on a second set of briefs to help the sensor to remain in place.
Here is a recent review in its entirety:
My child moves around alot when he sleeps and the alarm gets triggered for any little thing. The batteries die extremely quick. It works but a good portion of the time it goes off randomly even at the slightest movement. The alrm itself is pretty uncomfortable for my son since its bulky and he sleeps stomach down but anything to help him stop wetting the bed and being self concious.”
This got an understandable comment of “Why are you still using It?” Our guess for the obvious answer would be “I have wasted over $100 on this, because of all the false advertising that I read. I cannot just throw away this money. With my experience I would never have purchased it.”
Everything is looking even phonier than when we did our analysis in July on Chummie’s Amazon Reviews. For phony Chummie positive reviews on Amazon, we now place a 90% confidence level at between 25% and 50% of positive Chummie reviews being fakes placed by Chummie, with an expectation of about 35% to 40% fake positive reviews. Chummie has also been extremely aggressive in having negative reviews removed from Amazon, for many of which we do not understand why it happened. As an example, please see Amazon-Chummie
In essence, Chummie’s credibility for its reviews on Amazon is being revised negatively for Chummie. From a “stars” perspective, if Chummie was not fiddling substantially with its Amazon reviews, we doubt if Chummie would get more than 3-stars.

Other Selling Sites:

These sites include Best Buy, Sears, Wayfair, Rakuten, etc. that advertise the Chummie product. It is interesting to note that the first and most prominent site (particularly in Chummie’s advertising and claims), Best Buy, now stipulates “We’re sorry, this item is no longer available.” Best Buy was Chummie’s claim to selling in a major retail store on two continents. Best Buy has obviously dropped Chummie as not being a suitable product for them to carry. Chummie, however, has not dropped Best Buy from its site and advertising. But then Chummie has never displayed a sufficient level of truth or honesty in its advertising to be given even reasonable credit.
If Best Buy considered Chummie to be a dud, how long will these tertiary sites keep Chummie? Maybe forever, as they are simply listing sites that get a commission from Chummie if anything is sold. They do not have to stand behind or support or give refunds for any poor product sold on their site, which apparently became a severe burden for Best Buy. But sales through these channels should be very low.

Chummie’s Web Site:

Chummie can expect some sales from its own store. However, please note that Chummie does not subscribe to any paid advertising (for example, Google Adwords) and is not on the first two pages of a Google search for “bedwetting alarm” which may be the most commonly used phrase for an organic search. Consequently, sales on its site would be less than it might be with paid advertising and better organic ranking.

Negative Press:

Chummie has many reviews relating to them on the internet. Some are positive, but it is our opinion that almost all (and probably all) are either written and placed by Chummie or placed by parties who receive some form of compensation from Chummie. See chummie-very-strong-deceit-on-internet  for more details.

Furthermore, on unbiased comprehensive comparison sites which present detailed raw data about all of the alarms sold in the U.S. Chummie compares very poorly with several competing devices, both for features and price. See comparebedwettingalarms/wired-alarms as an example.

Foreign Sales:

Although Chummie claims to sell its product in other countries, we have no reason to believe that they may be more successful in these countries compared to North America. We also believe that the North American market is by far the largest market in the word. We shall ignore Chummie’s sales abroad and focus on North American sales.

Conclusion:

In our opinion there is a 95% probability that Chummie’s North American sales are between 500 and 1,700 units per year. We would associate a 99% probability that their current annual sales in North America are between 400 and 2,500 units. Our expectation would be about 1,200 units per year.

The probability of Chummie having sold over 100,000 units two years ago, or have over 100,000 satisfied  families today (according to Chummie’s advertising) tends to zero. In other words, we think it extremely safe to state that these sales numbers of Chummie are ridiculously improbable and fictitious.

Looking at this blog, it is apparent that there are severe problems with Theos Medical Systems and their Chummie product, and the manner in which they conduct their business. These apparent problems only get worse with time and more exposure to their behavior. With the low apparent volume of their sales and the unethical manner in which they promote their sales, their sustainability as a viable business becomes more and more questionable.

Is someone at Amazon too chummy with Chummie?

The following emails were sent about September 1, 2013.

Dear Sirs,

We are the author(s) of a blog, which has performed substantial analysis of Deceit on the Internet. Our blog site is http://bedwettingalarmsdeceitcatcher.blogspot.com/ and you will see that we are performing a significant service to the public as well as sites like yours by pointing out where and how deceit is occurring on the internet with respect to the bedwetting alarm industry.

Our “About Me” for the site reads:
Deceit is the quality that prompts intentional concealment or perversion of truth for the purpose of misleading. There is considerable deceit in the bedwetting alarm industry. The purpose of this blog is to point out the bogus (fake, phony) claims and deceptions of manufacturers and sellers and try to improve the ethics and business practices of this industry through exposure. Note: All products mentioned are trademarked and/or the property of their owners.
This entry specifically addresses a 1-star review on Amazon in October 2012 by ballboy 99, who gives a 1-star review to a product sold on Amazon with ASIN: B00A8GF6BO or the equivalent at that time.

Ballboy 99 asks “NOTE: This is the second post of this alarm review. For some reason Amazon deleted my first one. Is this seller able to get negative reviews removed?? Isn't that a conflict of interest?”

In our opinion ballboy 99’s review was a perfectly legitimate review which Theos Medical Systems (the owner of the Chummie product) got removed at least twice for reasons that we certainly do not understand.

A few weeks after ballboy 99 re-instated his review, it disappeared again.

This is of great concern to us as well, as it indicates substantial deceit on the part of the Chummie product’s owner on Amazon as well.

Reading our blog http://bedwettingalarmsdeceitcatcher.blogspot.com/ will show that Chummie gets more deceitful blog entries than ALL other manufacturers put together. They are without question, the most deceitful company on the internet in this industry. We would strongly recommend that you read this blog, where every entry is backed up with actual data. You will note that the relationship between Chummie and Amazon has been brought into question.

As observers of this matter for many months, we personally agree with ballboy 99’s statement that his negative review was removed for reasons that he does not understand. We are also aware that for AT LEAST the past one year, many negative reviews of the Chummie product have been removed. As one rather simple example, we can personally attest that Chummie had 207 reviews on Amazon on Wednesday, August 21, 2013. By Friday or Saturday, a few days later, the total reviews were down to 203. We believe that at least 4 (four) negative reviews were removed. We are reasonably assuming that they were removed at Chummies instigation. Why is this happening so frequently with Chummie, compared to all other parties in this category at Amazon that we are aware of? This obviously allows Chummie to have much more positive ratings and reviews on Amazon than they may truly deserve. We certainly would like to know, and receive a proper and complete answer from Amazon about these happenings.
This high number of removals of negative Chummie reviews on Amazon can be caused by
1.       Almost all negative reviews of Chummie are false or fake or not in line with Amazon guidelines, which we cannot believe or agree with (the ballboy 99 review is an excellent example),
2.       As suggested by ballboy 99, and possibly others, does Chummie have a special relationship with Amazon? We doubt that this would be so in the open. And
3.       Does Chummie have some special relationship with someone within Amazon who will perform these favors for Chummie? Is someone at Amazon colluding with Chummie? We are not suggesting that Amazon (the company) is colluding with Chummie. But it is certainly possible that someone inside Amazon may be involved. We understand that Amazon’s support team for such activities is based in India, as are Chummie’s owners. Corruption is part of everyday life in India, as can be read in numerous reputable and reliable sources, and involves even large corporations like Walmart. Although we cannot say that someone in Amazon’s group is colluding with Chummie, it certainly is a possibility that merits a thorough investigation by Amazon.

We raise these matters as it is in Amazon’s best interests to keep its house clean and not behave in a partial manner towards any seller. Our site also very adequately demonstrates that Chummie is exceptionally deceitful. Its attacks on competitors are well known, and some of Chummie’s most fraudulent attacks and inventions are also pointed out in the blog.

Please provide us with an answer about Chummie’s disappearing negative reviews, and also what steps Amazon might take to prevent such transgressions by Chummie in the future. We would appreciate any insights that you can provide. Like Amazon, we too are attempting to reduce or eliminate deceit on the internet. Amazon’s assistance and possible actions if any irregularities are discovered would be appreciated and welcomed.

It is in everyone’s best interests to be aware of what we are stating here. We shall post this letter on our blog about September 15, 2013. We hope that this will give you adequate time to give a positive and comprehensive reply, which we would also like to post for the information of the internet community of which Amazon is a very important part. If, for some reason, you wish us to delay the posting(s), please let us know.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Deceit Catcher

Chummie: Desperation Deceit – No Defense – Only Loud Barking!

As we have been pointing out for over two months and covering well over twenty blog entries, Chummie has the very unique distinction of being by far the most deceitful party in the bedwetting alarm industry.

Many details of deceit by Chummie have been meticulously explained in this blog. If Chummie was an honest and non-deceitful party, they should have explicitly explained their position with respect to each and every allegation and piece of evidence, so as to attempt a legitimate defense.

It appears that Chummie has NO legitimate defense. No explanations to explain why the allegations are not true have been forthcoming. Chummie’s reaction has been typically Chummie: Send the attack dogs to bark as loudly as they can. This is also very consistent with deceit by perversion.

Chummie made extremely false accusations against DryBuddy and its parent company Enuresis Solutions, LLC, which were refuted in depth. One false accusation in which Chummie was mis-representing itself as the FDA and threatening Enuresis Solutions was even passed over to the FDA for their investigation and action. Chummie’s response to even this was to quietly delete these blog entries, but to no avail as copies were in the FDA’s (and our) possession.

We currently doubt that Chummie will ever attempt to refute the facts against it, as they are all true facts. Chummie would look and sound just as foolish attempting to refute them as they now do with all of their falseness exposed. Chummie’s barking defense is as empty as Chummie’s value system, containing little if any of honor, ethics, morals, or credibility! But they will keep on barking as this is the substance of their present character.

Even though the only legitimate and ethical approach would be to revoke and re-constitute themselves into an ethical entity, this would take unusual courage and ethical fortitude. We can always hope that Chummie will turn over to a new and good page.

Note:

Chummie(TM) has a very large number of entries about its deceit in this blog. There are so many more entries and much more serious bad activities attributable to Chummie, so that Chummie has significantly more entries than all other manufacturers combined. You can read all of the Chummie deceit entries on this blog.

Chummie has also been given a 0-stars blog of its own so that its many examples of deceit can stand out by themselves. This Chummie blog is at

Chummie: Deceit by Perversion -- Best Buy

Chummie: Deceit by Perversion     http://www.chummie.com/buy-bedwetting-alarm-retail-store/           (August 5, 2013)
Chummie has never been shy about announcing anything that they wanted to announce. In this instance we are talking about their “Retail Partners” about whom Chummie has said a lot. They even have a special page on their web site (see above) where they display this list of “select retailers.”
Prominently listed on this page is Best Buy. We do know that Chummie was being sold at Best Buy. But for several months, if we clicked on Chummie’s “Buy Now” at their Best Buy link, on being sent to the Best Buy site, we would get the message:
We're sorry. We didn't find any matches for "chummie " in All Categories
So, to be certain about facts, we contacted Best Buy and asked about their carrying Chummie.
We were told that Best Buy terminated their relationship with Chummie and Theos Medical Systems some time ago. We did not get an exact date. But at least two months ago based on our experience with looking for Chummie on Best Buy’s site.
It appears that Best Buy decided that they no longer wanted to have any relationship with Chummie and Theos Medical Systems. Based on our ongoing analysis of Chummie, both the product and the company’s behavior, we can imagine why.
What is also obviously deceitful is that at least two months after they were dropped by Best Buy, Chummie continues to falsely brag on its web site that Best Buy is selling their device.
These deceitful facts just keep on continuing with respect to Chummie. Two or more months after their relationship with Best Buy was terminated, Chummie does not think it necessary to remove Best Buy from their list of “select retailers?”
And, of course, we have an appropriate copy of Chummie’s web page above, so we can always prove that Chummie was falsely and deceitfully advertising this item today (August 5, 2013). Let us see how long it takes Chummie to remove Best Buy from its web site. Of course, they could leave it there as a continuing reminder to people to buy Chummie from Best Buy!
And what might Chummie do if more of their “select retailers” get wise to Chummie and drop them?

Chummie(TM) has a very large number of entries about its deceit in this blog. Chummie: Grand Deceit -- Part 2.

Chummie: Grand Deceit -- Part 2. -- Continued from Chummie: Grand Deceit -- Part 1 below.
Chummie (we shall start using that name instead of the goofy name adopted by the owner/writer of the blog) also provides copies of two negative reviews from Amazon dated February, 2013. Chummie could only find two negative reviews? They must be utterly desperate to be making such a big fuss about two (2!) bad reviews! Stretching out what little they can find anywhere! Anyway, these are for the DryBuddyEZ, a product very different from the DryBuddy system. The spokesman for DryBuddy admitted that they had introduced it on Amazon in February, 2013, and withdrew it within two weeks when they found that the sensor clip did not grip the briefs tightly enough. They also pointed out that there were positive reviews which, of course, Chummie does not mention. Never-the-less, the DryBuddyEZ was withdrawn promptly. Please note that Amazon was NOT forced to remove the product, as Chummie so blatantly claims, but it was withdrawn by DryBuddy for sensible and ethical reasons. A new clip has been developed which will hold the briefs tightly, about 50% more tightly than Malem's sensor clip (which is the accepted industry standard). And yes, the DryBuddyEZ will be sold for $29.99, including free domestic shipping. We were also told that anyone who had purchased a DryBuddyEZ in February would be given a free new sensor if they wished one.
We understand why Chummie is badly frazzled, when this item is superior to and less than one-third the price that Chummie charges for its device
Also, consider the respective ethics. As soon as DryBuddy became aware of a defect in its product, the product was withdrawn from the market (very shortly after it was introduced). Chummie has been made aware of defects in its device for a long time, but has NOT withdrawn the device to get it corrected, and continues to sell the device with its defects.

What a difference in attitude and action! DryBuddy admits to a flaw in its product, withdraws it, and corrects it. Chummie, on the other hand, is high on perpetual deniability and false bravado!

Chummie: Grand Deceit.
We shall continue this exposé of this blog in Chummie: Grand Deceit --  Part 3.

Chummie: Grand Deceit -- Part 1.

Chummie: Grand Deceit -- Part 1                                                               July 30, 2013

                                          http://drybuddy-bedwetting-alarm-risk.blogspot.com

Chummie is displaying great enthusiasm in their deceit by having six repetitive blogs.
Another blog of Chummie’s at http://drybuddy-bedwetting-alarm-testimonial.blogspot.com/
is now empty, and may have been emptied and cancelled by Google for harassment or other punishable acts. So don’t be surprised if the other sites mentioned above, or parts of them start getting deleted or altered. However, we have copies of every one of these blogs posted by Chummie and/or its associates, and can make them available whenever needed.

We must admit that we have now seen an unbelievably new and high level of duplicity, deceit, and fraud being perpetuated by Chummie. Several new and repetitive blogs have come to our attention. These blogs are supposedly owned by "DryBuddy Enuresis Solutions", and “DryByddy Enuresis Solutions”, which contain very extensive attacks and lies about DryBuddy and its owning company. They are outstanding examples of the lengths to which Chummie will go in its deceit and vindictiveness.

It did not take much of an effort to conclude that the true owner/author of these blogs is Chummie or some associate of Chummie's. The style, the content, and the unmitigated lies (more on that later) were certainly in line with what we have identified extensively about Chummie. Without doubt, there is no other party in the bedwetting alarm industry who has achieved the ignominy or notoriety that Chummie has achieved with blatantly false statements and accusations. As suggested earlier, the culture of deceit appears to be well entrenched and thriving at Chummie. This example certainly establishes that even further. We shall also point out Chummie's pettiness in attempting to attack DryBuddy possibly because of the facts that we posted about Chummie's deceitfulness.

Let us start with the name of the owner/author of the blog which is blatantly and brazenly anti DryBuddy. Why would DryBuddy, or the company owning it, put their name to a blog which is nothing less than a soap box from which the perpetrator openly hurls lies and absurdly false accusations against DryBuddy? They would not.

Although many of the statements and claims in this blog were obviously ridiculous and false, we wanted to confirm some matters with DryBuddy and contacted them about these matters.

In the opening statement, Chummie claims that "wireless products that radiate dangerous levels of energy near your child's genitals, Drybuddy is a dangerour product." We shall again ignore the typos and misspellings which are typical of Chummie's poor command of the English language, particularly when Chummie is riled. We made inquiries of three persons knowledgeable about the wireless radiation from a DryBuddy sensor-like device, and asked if it would be "dangerous" for a child, or anyone else. In every instance the question was met with laughter, with the suggestion that with all of the car and other remote devices being used, radiation dangers would be very well known and acknowledged by far more believable and credible parties than Chummie. Also, how is it that Chummie is not criticizing the DRI Eclipse, which also transmits radio waves from "near your child's genitals." And this DRI device has been in service much longer than DryBuddy's. More indulgence by Chummie in selective invention that suits Chummie at the moment?

Chummie was also ridiculed for their complete lack of even basic electrical knowledge as it would be impossible from a device using a small 3 volts button battery from even having the capacity to "radiate dangerous levels of energy." Even more so a device that was designed to be using this small battery power source for a long period of time. But then, no-one ever said that Chummie had any technological know-how!

We asked this last question to a spokesperson for the company that owns DryBuddy. Although there was some initial laughter, it was followed by our being informed that an internet posting against DryBuddy in December, 2012 made the very same accusation, and was falsely posted in the name of the owner of the Bedwettingstore. This is a competing party that also sells bedwetting alarms. When the owners of DryBuddy and the Bedwettingstore discussed this, the Bedwettingstore owner not only vowed that he had never posted such a claim, but also pointed out that the email address used was not his email address. The two companies concluded, for a variety of reasons, that this false posting probably came from Chummie, trying to stir up bad feelings among competitors of Chummie. Now when this false issue is raised in this hopelessly bogus blog, the people at DryBuddy conclude that this blog and posting are coming directly or indirectly from Chummie. And we must concur. The repetition is too far out and absurd except to have come from the same party who's thoughts and imagination flow along constant lines of fault and absurdness.

Grand Deceit.

We shall continue the exposé of this blog in Chummie: Grand Deceit -- Part 2.

Chummie: Very Strong Deceit on Internet Review Sites and Blogs.

Chummie continues to behave disgracefully. This will provide opportunities for many more blog entries relating to Chummie’s deceit and other malicious practices, all of which have been recorded.

First, it is appropriate to reveal that the Product A mentioned and analyzed in

and also below in corresponding blogs, is the Chummie bedwetting alarm product.

Starting with the reviews of Chummie on Amazon, it is our opinion that 34% of the total reviews for Chummie may have been biased by Chummie. In other words, they may be fake reviews placed there by Chummie and/or its associates. Of these, about 94% were very positive reviews, which would be perfectly understandable if they were biased by Chummy. We also noticed that many negative opinions that we saw in 2012 and later had been removed. This would also certainly look good for Chummie, and we cannot imagine it happening without Chummie’s instigation.

Relating to product blogs, we did a fresh Google search for Chummie blogs, and looked at the results to identify what we would regard as advertisements for Chummie on various sites that were displayed. We found 14 of the 30 total sites on the three pages to be blatant advertisements for Chummie. Almost all appeared to be sites run by individuals or small groups, who were trying to make a buck. We did include in the total any sites “owned” by Chummie, and also any sites that were critical of Chummie on these pages which were not included in the "blogs for Chummie." So to have almost 50% approval from small blogs/sites is a great display of buying positive endorsements.

These confirm our opinion that Chummie is the leader in false advertising, and has no credibility. It also reinforces our opinion that these "reviews" and product "opinions" should be ignored.

Expect more about Chummie's abuse of the internet and continuing deceit.

Chummie: Strong Deceit by Perversion

Chummie: Strong Deceit by Perversion          http://bg-alarm.blogspot.com/2012/06/bad-chummie-premium-bedwetting-alarm.html   (July 21, 2013)

Chummie, whom we have called the fountainhead of deceit on the internet, has taken deceit to a new level with their false advertising which has become apparent on Google search. Now that negative results about Chummie are showing up on Page 1 of a Google search, it appears that Chummie is trying to get some promotional advantage out of the negative reviews by inserting their own misleading negative search results, which when clicked on, leads to a full-fledged Chummie advertisement full of its usual and traditional deceit.

When doing a Google search, the following Google search result is shown:

bg-alarm.blogspot.com/.../bad-chummie-premium-bedwetting-alarm.htm...

o    Cached

Jun 18, 2012 - Chummie is far and away the worst when it comes to deceit. This site has numerous pages dedicated to Chummie's deceit. i agree with them.

Chummie or its shill(s) have taken or invented a negative search result about Chummie which is dated June 18, 2012. If a reader clicks on this blog link expecting to find a negative comment about Chummie, they are instead shown a full advertising blurb in favor of Chummie, with the same old deceitful claims that Chummie is known for.

The very deceitful Chummie is further demonstrating its trickery and duplicity by enticing readers to view an advertisement for them by drawing them with a totally different and negative search result. Furthermore, Chummie's wording makes the above result sound like it may be coming from this bedwettingalarmsdeceitcather blog. Sneaky, in a very negative way. Trying to "fool" readers. This confirms very poor ethics.

We should also point out that Chummie, together with several other manufacturers, has been using this blog site ("bg-alarm") as a "farm" for posting advertisements for their alarms, hoping that Google search and other search engines will pick them up. Chummie appears to be the prevalent advertiser in the last few years. We discuss this form of deceit using product blogs in our post "Deceit on the Internet: Product Blogs." We would certainly recommend that any search results coming from bg-alarm.blogspot.com be ignored, as it typically represents advertising from the manufacturers pitching their products.

Chummie has been singled out for a "Strong Deceit" rating because they are deceitfully using a false search result to draw customers to their deceitful advertising.

Chummie: Strong Deceit by Perversion.

Chummie            http://www.chummie.com/best-bed-wetting-alarm/    (July 15, 2013)

The entire culture of Chummie appears to be imbued (saturated) with the value that being deceitful is good for Chummie and deceit can be used by them without concern. It is this apparently warped value system, at least by American standards, that lies at the heart of these exposure blog entries. You will note that this one business, Chummie, has about as many exposures on this site as all other companies in the bedwetting alarm industry put together. This is shameful, but we doubt that Chummie will make any significant changes as long as they are trying to sell a poor product at premium prices. The only way to sell such a product is by using a lot of deceit. As stated before, we suggest that the reader go to a comprehensive comparison site for bedwetting alarms like
http://urinealarms.com/Wired_Alarm_Chart.html  and make suitable comparisons.

So let us proceed with the long saga of Chummie and its deceit.

"Innovation Beyond Boundaries" Chummie claims. Chummie’s writers may not realize that they may be referring to a scientific impossibility in a true and practical sense. Sounds good, but practically everything in our known scientific space has boundaries, and anything that Chummie might work with certainly does.

Let us go on. "Innovation Beyond Boundries. Theos Medical System’s world-class global lab is equipped with state of the art technology. Our engineers and scientists are from the world’s leading universities and a variety of different industries. We deliver exceptional quality of life to those who embrace our products. Our labs are home to the world’s most cutting-edge and extensive research on bed wetting alarms and incontinence solutions. We believe that the ingenuity and creativity that embody our products has the power to change the lives of our customers."

Looking at this last paragraph, we have no reason to believe that Theos has any scientific lab of any sort. The minimal work that has been done so far has been done, we believe, by engineers on the payroll of Theos's Chinese contract manufacturer. There is nothing wrong with that, but it is inappropriate for Theos to refer to this as Theos's lab. This lab also does work for other clients.

With the exception of one person that we know of, it is our belief that Theos's entire team is made up of non-engineering persons. The exception seems to be a person in Florida with an electrical engineering background, who is probably used by Chummie as a "hired gun" to place his name on Chummie's patent applications together with the owner of Chummie and a possible relative of his in India, to help give the application some credibility. This also brings some questions into our mind about Chummie's U.S. patent applications. We are not Patent Attorneys, but we recall that U.S. patent applicants have to state, under oath, that the device submitted for a patent was conceived (originally thought of) and invented by the applicants. We know that both Chummie's alarm and sensor came from Chummie's Chinese manufacturer and their engineers, and were offered for sale by the Chinese manufacturer before Chummie ever adopted it. We leave the possible conclusions to the reader.

More from Chummie: "The Chummie Bedwetting Alarm is our constant endeavor to being the global leader in bed wetting alarm market ensures that all our bed wetting alarms and processes not only meet but also exceed industry standards."

And "We constantly refine and better our bed wetting alarms and processes for superior performance using the experience of our team, lab tests, and real-world data."

The only refinement that we have noticed is the plastic "smile" on the front of the Chummie. Chummie may also have had their Chinese manufacturer add a vibration and a two-step volume control. The vibration and volume control (even multi-step or continuous volume controls) are common among better bedwetting alarms in all price ranges. So the above statement is essentially hyperbole, meant to impress the naive reader.

In spite of having numerous persons point out the deficiencies in their sensor and how it connects to the alarm box, Chummie has not yet even improved that in their exalted "world-class global lab."

We again recommend that the reader go to a comprehensive comparison site for bedwetting alarms like
See what Chummie gives you and at what cost relative to its competitors. Then ask yourself whether you should still purchase Chummie.

Chummie: Strong Deceit by Concealment.

Chummie                            http://www.chummie.com/                       (July 13, 2013)

We have noticed in Chummie’s pictures of children wearing the alarm, that the alarm is located at the neck opening of the night shirt. We are assuming that there is a device used to attach the Chummie alarm box to the user’s clothing. What is this device? Why is there no trace of it in any pictures or description that we can see on the site?

Chummie, on their web site, says that their Chummie Pro kits include a “snap-on clip.” We do not know if this is also provided with the Chummie alarm. We did not notice anything on Chummie’s site about how the Chummie alarm is attached to the user’s clothing. Nor have we seen or read anything about this snap-on clip on Chummie’s site.

We do recall Chummie proudly exclaiming that they had obtained a U.S. patent for this clip. Indeed they had. As explained elsewhere, Chummie was the first (and perhaps only) party to apply for a patent on the simple device that they show in their patent.

We wonder why the ever-vociferous Chummie has gone completely silent on their clip. Is it more of a liability than an asset? We do recall seeing several reviews on Amazon where the user’s clip broke easily. Some of these users were attaching their Chummie alarm boxes to their nightshirts with duct tape or some other very sticky tape to try and keep the box in place.

We do notice that Chummie is unusually and completely silent about how its alarm box is attached to the user’s shirt. We wonder why.

Are we repeating ourselves often? Are we sounding like Chummie? Please pardon our hypocrisy. It is very easy to fall into the trap of grandiose delusions when reading Chummie's wondrous revelations.

While we are addressing Chummie clips, let us examine the manner in which the Chummie sensor wire is connected to the alarm box. Chummie uses a push-in RCA jack. Although this is an easy-to-plug-in and plug-out connector often used for audio connections, it is not appropriate as a bedwetting alarm connector as it can come out easily as the user sleeps and applies some pressure on the sensor cable. Most manufacturers use a plastic telephone type jack (616E, RJ11, RJ12) which is very unlikely to come out by itself. Again, if you read through Amazon, you can come across various instances where frustrated caregivers or users have had to tape the Chummie sensor jack to the alarm to prevent it from slipping out during use. Is this another example of Chummies vaulted and much proclaimed research program? Or is it simply another instance of them living with something off-the-shelf that was convenient to adopt? It is undoubtedly the latter.

Again, we recommend that the reader look at a detailed and comprehensive bedwetting alarms comparison site like

where you can make a detailed evaluation of what Chummie offers for its price compared to the abilities and values offered by other bedwetting alarms.
